WIN a Giant Jar of Easter Eggs

 

 

Our good (not so) old post Mistress, Lisa, is giving you the chance to win this whole giant jar of Easter eggs.  At just $1 per guess you might as well pick a few numbers.

Moorland Public School P&C are running an Easter Egg Guessing Competition, only $1/guess! All proceeds go to Moorland Public School P&C. Lisa said, "We are a small school of 32 students, our aim is to raise money to support school excursions such as swimming lessons and where possible, contribute towards the cost of hiring a bus to transport our students. Your support is always greatly appreciated."

Guessing competition rules: the 1st person to pick the number will be deemed the winner so where there are multiple correct guesses, the winner will be deemed from the date of the guess.

So that you get your eggs in time for Easter, the competition will be drawn on Monday 3rd April.  I made sure to ask Lisa to bring the the jar along to the Easter Party Community Catch-up this Sunday (2-4pm at Moorland Hall), for any last-minute guesses.

If you can't make the catch-up, or can't wait to take a peek at what you can win, you can make a guess at Moorland Post Office between now and Friday 31st March.

The Moorland Hall Christmas Tea & Chatter was an eventful occasion.  Along with the regular catch-up among friends over morning tea goodies, there was a special Aussie rendition of Jingle Bells from students of Moorland School and my heartfelt lyrical dance performance.   In a bid to thank locals for support, and to say goodbye to my cancer, I performed two improvised dances.  If you look closely at the videos (shown down the bottom) you can probably see my “thinking face” while I made up what to do as I went along! Meet Jimmy - A Young Local Farmer Selling Delicious Organic Milk

Since I first bought organic meat from Oxhill Organics, I have been eagerly awaiting their organic milk sales. I am pleased to announce that Jimmy Eggart  is now offering minimally pasteurised, non-homogenised milk in bottles or buckets, under the Hastings Riverlands brand. He will even deep wash and sterilise your glass bottles so you don’t have to use plastic! Currently the closest outlets are Huntingdon and Redbank but I’m trying to work my magic to get us a closer outlet, so watch this space… if you’re interested in buying, or collecting, from a local outlet please email me. Having had health issues in the past, I like to know as much as  I can about a product before ingesting it.  In the absence of being able to buy raw milk (which Jimmy said he would sell if he could, but unfortunately it is not legal) I am glad that the milk from Hastings Riverlands is  minimally pasteurised.  This means that the milk is pasturised at 65.1 degrees rather than the standard...

Are You Bushfire Ready? Get Your Free Radio

Have you updated your Fire Plan lately?  If not, now is the time to do so, with what is set to be a dry Summer approaching.  On 25th July I was glad to attend a bushfire ready workshop.  Johns River Hall hosted the event on behalf of our local Community Preparedness Network, which involves Johns River, Moorland and Hannam Vale communities. The importance of knowing what you plan to do if a Bushfire should come your way cannot be stressed enough.  Would you stay, would you go - and if so, when?  This is life and death stuff, so there's no messing around. In 2019 those of us touched by the local fires still have clear memories of how dangerous they are.  One of our friends, Daintry, from Johns River, is quick to point out that although she took steps to prepare, and planned to leave early, sometimes things happen all too quickly; and she is sure that "without the RFS ……. we would not have our home today'.             ...
