Bulk Food Orders - includes Organic, from Honest to Goodness

 

Want to buy dry goods and pantry staples like flour, rice, dried fruit, and cooking oil at a cheaper price?  Although still not cheap, the cheaper way to buy organic is to bulk buy.  If you don't need 5kg of flour at a time you can share, as part of an Honest to Goodness group! 


There are already a couple of local groups who reap the benefits of lower cost organic pantry foods with Honest to Goodness.  Thanks to the guys who organise those, but these groups are both getting pretty big, and I’ve had a few people ask if I can do one too.  So now is the time to express a concrete interest in me running an account with Honest to Goodness (H2G).  


Being part of a group means you can get access to lower prices for most products when the group as a whole meets minimum quantities.  Plus you can choose to 'split' a large item to make a big saving.  For example, you can opt to buy 1kg out of a 10kg bag of organic sultanas.  Saving you $$$ at the price-per-kilo cost.  


The postage amount is automatically calculated, depending on your share of the order and I have been assured that the order will be delivered right to my door. Once the food arrives I’ll let the H2G group members know, so you can bring your containers to portion out your splits and collect your goodies. 


The first order will open Sunday 7th May and close Monday 15th May. I can show you how to order in person, at the Community catch-up on Sunday 7th May. To start with I will place an order every two months, and we can go from there.  You don’t have to order each time, just whenever you want.  

 

You put items in your cart and once the order closes you are told what you owe, including your share of postage.  The order will be placed with Honest to Goodness once I receive money owed.   

 

If there are any unfilled 'splits' I will send a note around to the 'Stacey H2G' group to advise on what is left to fill, and if those splits are not filled you can order an alternative size for the item.

Meet Jimmy - A Young Local Farmer Selling Delicious Organic Milk

Since I first bought organic meat from Oxhill Organics, I have been eagerly awaiting their organic milk sales. I am pleased to announce that Jimmy Eggart  is now offering minimally pasteurised, non-homogenised milk in bottles or buckets, under the Hastings Riverlands brand. He will even deep wash and sterilise your glass bottles so you don’t have to use plastic! Currently the closest outlets are Huntingdon and Redbank but I’m trying to work my magic to get us a closer outlet, so watch this space… if you’re interested in buying, or collecting, from a local outlet please email me. Having had health issues in the past, I like to know as much as  I can about a product before ingesting it.  In the absence of being able to buy raw milk (which Jimmy said he would sell if he could, but unfortunately it is not legal) I am glad that the milk from Hastings Riverlands is  minimally pasteurised.  This means that the milk is pasturised at 65.1 degrees rather than the standard...

Are You Bushfire Ready? Get Your Free Radio

Have you updated your Fire Plan lately?  If not, now is the time to do so, with what is set to be a dry Summer approaching.  On 25th July I was glad to attend a bushfire ready workshop.  Johns River Hall hosted the event on behalf of our local Community Preparedness Network, which involves Johns River, Moorland and Hannam Vale communities. The importance of knowing what you plan to do if a Bushfire should come your way cannot be stressed enough.  Would you stay, would you go - and if so, when?  This is life and death stuff, so there's no messing around.
